ScienceFund Workshop was be held on 7th Feb 2010 in Dewan Jasmin UiTM Dungun. PM Dr Rohaya Md Noor talked about Transdicipline Research, Research Grants available - FRGS, KCM, ScienceFund and other external grants. She touched about Strategic Research Directions for RMK10. Refer Figure below for understanding.
For end product research, we have to start with fundamental research (apply FRGS Grant), then come out with applied research for e-science. Technology and Innovation research can be applied with TechnoFund and InnoFund Grant correspondingly. She also told that the field of research for current trends are nanotechnology, renewable energy and bioinformatics. Her talked focused on FRGS and KCM. Areas of Research for applying FRGS :

Prof Sr. Ir. Mustafar Kamal Hamzah talked about ScienceFund. He told that research cluster for ScienceFund are ICT, Biotechnology, Industry, Sea to Space, Agriculture, and S & T services. Biotechnology includes of health care, marine biotechnology and industrial biotechnolgy, Agriculture inclues of agricultural biotechnology and food security, and Industry contains of advance materials, advance manufacturing/automation, nanotechnology, wireless, alternative energy, and waste to wealth. For RMK10 ICT will focus on trusted computing and current trends of research is microenergy technology (Green).He also gave tips how to write a proposal for applying ScienceFund.
